New Peckham Rye Blog

Quick post to let you know about a new blog for Peckham Rye. It's being run by the recently selected Labour candidates for next year's council elections, Vikki Mills, Gavin Edwards and Renata Hamvas.

Peckham Rye ward covers the south east part of Nunhead, Peckham Rye Park & Common and also parts of East Dulwich (marked as 20 on the map below, Nunhead ward is 17). I'm already working closely with the team on a number of issues that affect both wards - like dealing with speeding traffic on Ivydale Rd, saving our Community Centre and securing funding for a new One O'Clock Club house and changing rooms for the football club on Peckham Rye Park. They are bright, energetic and keen to do everything they can to make a difference in Peckham Rye.

PS as soon as I get a bit more time I'm also planning to blog on the shortage of primary school places in East Dulwich (an issue which I'm working on as chair of the council's Scrutiny Committee and if estimate of the number of pre school age children in the area are correct may become an issue in Nunhead soon too).

I'm still investigating what's happening with the Nunhead Renewal regeneration money and need to talk to the Executive Member for Finance about what the "Capital Refresh" might mean for it (ie could there be cuts?) and will post when I have a clearer idea of how things are going.
