Ivydale Rd & Linden Grove roadworks
A bit more info has emerged on the forthcoming road works to put pinch points into Ivydale Rd and Linden Grove. Click here for the traffic management orders. Seems that work on Ivydale Rd will start on 2 November and take up to 10 weeks. Linden Grove is to start on 5 January and take up to 10 weeks.
I am trying to get more details about how exactly the road closures are going to be done, how traffic will be managed and what bus diversions will be put in place and I will post when I have more information.
If any residents do have questions or problems the best people to contact are Matt Joel of F M Conway (the contractors) on 0208 636 8822 or Joseph Okai the project manager at the council on 0207 525 2145.

Off topic slightly but, who installed the new crossing on Old Kent Road by Commercial Way. This design is awful, the red & green men are on the push botton box and there is NOTHING that you can see while actually CROSSING the road. No green man on the other side of the road.
The only indication is a beeping noise that operates while the crossing is safe.
I presume that because it is a Red Route that this is down to TFL?
I feel that this style of crossing is totally wrong for a dual carriageway, it left me feeling unsure about my safety and believing that the traffic could start moving as I was still in the middle of the road.
Yep, that would be TfL. This seems to be the new style. Like you I find them really disconcerting, but interestingly one of my friends (who has pretty poor eye sight) says she finds them a big improvement. I don't see why they can't do displays on both the push button box and in the normal place.
