Ivydale Road and Linden Grove Traffic Calming

Just a quick note to let people know that next week's Nunhead & Peckham Rye Community Council meeting will be discussing proposals for new traffic calming measures on Linden Grove & Ivydale Rd.

Although the streets are in a 20mph zone, they suffer from terrible speeding problems. The council is proposing some quite radical measures, putting in a number of single lane pitch points and raised tables. Many residents will welcome this, but I have received complaints from residents in neighbouring streets who fear that these measures will simply move the problem onto their streets as cars seek to by-pass the measures. Sadly little or no account seems to have been taken of this in the plans.

You can view the proposals here and full details of the meeting are here. If you have a view on this please come along, leave a comment or drop me a line.

You might also enjoy this artists impression for the area outside the main gates of the cemetery. Once I'd stopped laughing at the Council's idea of Nunhead being populated by a see through boy, a city gent and one of the 118 men I thought the design looked quite good.

Fiona, was there any specific recommendation for a proper pedestrian crossing close to Ivydale School. I've seen a few "close shaves" involving children crossing the road outside the school entrance?
