Save the South London Line

Network Rail are proposing changes to the route of the South London Line which runs between London Bridge and Victoria via Queens Rd Station and Peckham Rye. They say they need to free up capacity at Victoria so they want to divert the line terminate at Clapham Junction instead of Victoria. This would mean that there would be no direct link between Queens Road Station and Victoria. It would also have a knock-on effect on Nunhead Station users who need to line after 8pm and on Sundays so they can get to/from Peckham Rye when there are no direct trains to Nunhead.

The proposals are made in the Network Rail draft Cross London Rail Utilisation Strategy. As it's a 10 year strategy it isn't clear when the proposal would be implemented, but we need to campaign against it now.

The consultation has been terrible with little or no effort made to tell regular passengers about the proposals. I only found out about it thanks to a Labour party member who works in the industry and saw the proposal in a trade mag. The result was that people were only just finding out about the plan days before the consultation deadline.

I got my objection letter in just before the 24 Feb deadline (click here). I recommend that people keep on sending their comments in anyway to rusresponses@networkrail.co.uk

Fantastic letter, well done fiona.
I commute every day and have absolutely no interest in changing trains at Clapham Junction. Once again another example of Peckham and the surrounding areas being dumped upon.

It is unbelievable that this has been kept so quiet
